Compare before you book
A London plumbing alternative.
A comparison you can check.
Choosing a plumber involves more than the headline hourly rate. Compare the attendance charge, the work included and the full amount payable for your appointment. These guides explain where AK Plumbing may fit your job and where another company may suit you better.

Why consider AK Plumbing?
AK is based in North London and covers Greater London. Our phone is answered and emergency engineer dispatch is available 24/7. We publish a £60 attendance fee and a £160 hourly plumbing rate, with no VAT added because AK is not VAT-registered. We discuss the work and hourly quote before you approve it.
That makes AK worth considering if you want those charges stated before arranging a visit and want to discuss a specific plumbing problem with a North London-based business. Availability, access, the fault and the agreed scope still matter. A 24/7 dispatch service does not guarantee an arrival time or that every repair can be completed during one visit.
Compare the whole visit
One AK attendance plus one full hour of plumbing labour is £220 before separately agreed parts or additional work. This is arithmetic, not a fixed repair price. A competitor’s lower starting rate can produce a lower total for some jobs. A higher hourly rate can also cover different work or billing conditions. Ask each provider to quote for the same problem, appointment time and deliverables.
- Give both companies the same postcode, symptoms and access details.
- Ask for the amount payable including any VAT and attendance charge.
- Confirm minimum time, part-hour billing and whether investigation or parts collection is chargeable.
- Agree who can authorise extra time, parts or opening surfaces.
- Ask what happens if the fault is intermittent, a part is unavailable or the visit is inconclusive.
What does “no find, no fee” cover?
A no-find-no-fee offer, a no-callout-fee policy and a workmanship guarantee answer different questions. Check the actual service, eligibility and exclusions. AK’s £60 attendance charge is separate from plumbing work; no automatic waiver or survey refund is promised here. See our leak-investigation terms guide before comparing a specialist survey with an ordinary plumbing visit.
Need help understanding the fault first?
Our plumbing guides explain common symptoms and the information useful when booking. For a suspected concealed leak, start with leak investigation; for an accessible plumbing fault, see plumbing repairs.
