Before an engineer attends
- Describe the problem and postcode. Say whether water is actively leaking, which fixtures are affected and whether this is a house, flat or business.
- Confirm attendance. Agree the £60 callout and the arrival arrangements. Sending a form does not reserve an appointment.
- Agree the work and hourly quote. Ask what the engineer expects to do, the likely labour time and how further time or parts will be authorised.
- Keep control of changes. If access, parts or the scope change, discuss the revised work and charge before it proceeds.

- When does chargeable labour start, and what is the minimum billing period?
- How are part-hours, diagnostic work and a possible return visit charged?
- Are parts, access work, disposal or making good included in this quote?
- Does this specialist job use the plumbing hourly rate or a separately agreed quote?
- Who will approve additional work if a landlord or managing agent is paying?

What does the £60 callout fee cover?
The £60 fee covers the engineer attending your property. It does not include plumbing repair work. The engineer will discuss the work needed and give you an hourly quote before proceeding.
How much is plumbing labour?
Plumbing work is £160 per hour. Agree the proposed work, expected time and how chargeable time is recorded before the work starts. Any parts or additional work should be identified in your quote.
Is VAT added?
No. AK Plumbing London is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to the £60 attendance fee or the £160 plumbing hourly rate.
Does the callout fee include the first hour?
No. Attendance and plumbing labour are separate charges. One attendance plus one full hour of plumbing labour is £220 before any separately agreed parts or additional charges.
Is every job completed for £220?
No. £220 is a calculation for the £60 attendance fee plus one full hour at £160. It is not a fixed repair quote or a promise that a job will take one hour. The fault, access, parts and scope affect the work required.
What should I confirm before an evening or weekend visit?
Our phone and emergency dispatch operate 24/7. Confirm the attendance fee, the rate for the specific work, expected arrival, any minimum billing period and all other applicable charges when booking. Do not assume a waiver, a time increment or a separate specialist rate unless it appears in your quote.
Can I decline the repair after the engineer attends?
You can decide whether to approve the proposed work. Attendance has a separate £60 charge; do not assume it is removed because you decline a repair. Ask about the cost of any chargeable investigation before agreeing to it.
