For the Vitodens 050-W type BPJC covered by Viessmann's February 2014 GB manual, F2 means the temperature limiter has responded and the burner is in a fault state. It is not simply another name for low pressure. Confirm the exact model and arrange assessment if the warning persists or returns; a normal-looking gauge does not establish that water is circulating correctly.

The model boundary matters because Vitodens is a family name, not one universal control system. The document checked here covers BPJC appliances rated 6.5–35 kW. A different 050-W generation, a 100-W or a 300 should be interpreted through its own instructions. The year on the manual is the document edition, not proof of when your boiler was installed. The poster did not identify the model clearly, and the discussion did not establish a diagnosis. The reported number cannot be used as a target for your appliance, nor can the account prove what failed in that household.

It raises two useful questions for your own report. First, what was the operating condition when the gauge was read? Second, what exactly did the recent visit involve? “Serviced two months ago” is relevant history, but it is not a test result for the current event. A new fault, an intermittent condition or an issue outside the previous scope can still require investigation.

Keep the service record available and tell the business when the new symptom began. If the code first appeared immediately after work, report that timing without assuming blame. If weeks of normal operation intervened, include that too. The person investigating needs the sequence, not a conclusion that the previous visit either caused the problem or ruled it out.

Hot water returned but the radiators did not: check what actually recovered

A second public account described a Vitodens 100-W B1HA with a cylinder, where hot-water availability and radiator performance did not recover together after an F2 episode. That is a different model from the BPJC manual verified here. We use the account to frame a household observation, not to assign the same code definition or a confirmed diagnosis to that installation.

In a cylinder system, water at the tap may have been heated earlier or by a separate heat source. Its warmth does not prove that the boiler is firing normally now. Tell the engineer that there is a cylinder, whether any separate heating source is in use, and which part of the system remains cold. A statement that “hot water works” needs that context to be useful.

Likewise, a few warm radiators and several cold ones do not prove that the boiler's fault has been resolved. Describe the pattern seen during ordinary use without changing all the valves or deliberately cycling the system. The person attending may need to consider the wider heating arrangement as well as the appliance. There is a difference between restoring boiler operation and restoring the intended delivery of heat throughout the home.

For a combi installation without stored hot water, describe heating and hot-tap behaviour separately. Do not assume the cylinder account provides the right explanation for your layout.
