Mixergy does not have one universal numbered fault-code list that can be applied to every cylinder and controller. Its published guidance distinguishes a controller status LED, the hot-water gauge and connection indicators. A red area on the gauge can describe heated water, while a flashing controller status light can indicate a fault. Identify which light you are looking at before interpreting its colour.

Photograph the whole visible control and the product label, then record the colour and flashing pattern. Do not remove an electrical cover to obtain a view. If the status indicator described in a manual is not safely visible from outside, leave it for the installer or manufacturer’s support team. A screenshot of an app message should retain the exact wording and time.

This guide uses Mixergy’s support information checked on 20 September 2026. It distinguishes standard controller guidance from the separate iHP product guidance, and avoids inventing boiler-style E codes. Match the support page to the actual model and controller generation. An error shown by a connected boiler or heat pump also needs that appliance’s own identification.

If there is water near electrical equipment, a burning smell, overheating or unsafe discharge, stop ordinary troubleshooting and seek appropriate urgent help. Connectivity instructions are not a response to those conditions. Keep clear of wet electrical controls and do not repeatedly cycle power in the hope that a potentially physical fault will disappear.

The published controller status patterns

Mixergy’s status-LED page lists flashing green as normal system status and solid green/red as an update, during which power should not be removed. Its red-flash patterns distinguish a temperature-sensor issue, an undetected gauge, an energy-measurement issue and a main-processor issue. The accompanying table summarises that published identification guide; it is not an instruction to open the controller or repair electronics.

Count the pattern only if the relevant indicator is safely visible. A short video can help support distinguish a slow flash from a rapid one, especially when a description over the phone is uncertain. Record whether the pattern is continuous or only occurs when a normal heating request is made. Do not press hidden buttons or change wiring to make a code reappear.

A code names the issue detected by the controller; it does not necessarily identify a component that should be ordered without testing. For example, a reported communication or measurement problem needs the manufacturer’s interpretation for the installed hardware. A parts purchase based solely on a flashing colour can leave the original cause unresolved.

If the system is updating, follow the manufacturer’s instruction to leave power on, unless an immediate safety emergency requires a different response from emergency personnel. Do not apply a generic internet suggestion to restart every device. Capture the information and use the correct support route if the state persists or the system fails to resume normal operation.

The gauge’s hot-water display is not the PCB fault light

The user gauge and the controller’s diagnostic indicator answer different questions. Mixergy’s gauge instructions describe a display whose colours change as water heats. They also describe a heat-source selection mode. A colour seen in one of those contexts should not be read using the controller status table, because the same colour can serve a different purpose.

This matters when someone reports only “the tank is red”. Ask where the red appears, whether it is a bar or a small light, whether it flashes and what happened immediately before it changed. A photograph with enough surrounding context can prevent a normal display being described as a hardware failure. Do not rely on a cropped close-up that hides which component it belongs to.

Avoid entering installer or heat-source selection modes as a general reset. An installation commissioned for one heating arrangement should not be switched to another simply because the water is cold. The correct selection depends on the connected equipment. If a setting was changed accidentally, tell support exactly what was pressed rather than experimenting until the display looks familiar.

For normal daily use, follow the gauge instructions supplied for your system. If a visible boost control is part of those instructions, record its response without extending that permission to internal resets. A user command can help describe the behaviour; it does not establish that the cylinder has completed heating or that an associated boiler or heat pump has accepted the request.

Check controller generation before connection advice

Mixergy’s connection guidance distinguishes the 1.0 controller, identified by a large X on its white enclosure, from the 2.0 unit marked as a smart controller. Connection methods and troubleshooting routes differ. Identify the visible hardware before following advice about a powerline adapter, Ethernet or wireless setup. A useful instruction for one arrangement may be irrelevant to another.

Record recent network changes: a replacement router, changed network name, moved adapter or newly connected equipment. These facts are more useful than assuming a disconnected app proves the heating element is broken. If the hot-water service remains normal, describe the issue as a connection problem rather than a total loss of hot water.

Keep network troubleshooting outside electrical enclosures. Use ordinary accessible router and app controls according to the manufacturer’s matching guide. Do not modify fixed wiring, bridge terminals or remove a controller to reconnect something that appears loose. If the required connection is inaccessible or you are unsure which device belongs to the system, ask support for model-specific guidance.

For a recently purchased home, check account access and handover information as well as the physical connection. A cylinder can exist on a network while the new resident lacks the correct account association. Explain whether the app never showed the cylinder, stopped showing it after a change or displays old information. Those are different support questions and should not all be labelled a tank fault.

Offline app information does not prove the water is cold

Mixergy’s online/offline guidance says the system can still be used without an internet connection, while app information and remote functions can be limited. An offline app may show old data. Compare the displayed state with normal safe observations at the cylinder’s user controls and the actual hot-water service rather than treating a stale percentage as a live measurement.

The support page identifies blue and white connection-light states and discusses loss of power where no light appears. Apply that guidance only to the matching gauge. If a light is absent, check ordinary visible supply and control information without removing covers or repeatedly resetting protective devices. A tripped electrical circuit or damaged component needs a different response from a lost broadband connection.

A public Trustpilot account by LindaL, posted in August 2026, reported restored connectivity after manufacturer-guided use of a different network arrangement. That is an unverified individual outcome, not a recommendation that every disconnected cylinder needs a new router. It illustrates why the connection path should be assessed before assuming the hot-water hardware must be replaced.

Separate the two outcomes when asking for help: “The app is offline but taps are hot” or “The app is offline and all taps remain cold”. The second situation may involve more than connectivity. Restoring an app connection is useful, but it should not be presented as a completed heating repair unless the actual service has also been checked.

No hot water can be a schedule question or a heating fault

Mixergy’s no-hot-water support guidance starts with connection, active schedules and settings. For the user, the important distinction is between no scheduled request, a request that has not yet produced heat and a fault that prevents normal operation. Review the visible schedule against the household’s intended routine without changing commissioning settings or defeating protective controls.

Record when the last successful heating period occurred and whether the current schedule differs from it. A holiday setting, changed routine or app access problem may be relevant. Do not assume the cylinder should heat immediately at every moment simply because it has electrical power. Equally, a schedule appearing correct does not prove the heating process is working.

If a normal documented boost is used, note the start time, displayed response and eventual hot-water result. Avoid repeated commands that make it difficult to understand which request the system is following. If the operation is unfamiliar, ask support rather than treating every button combination found online as an authorised user function.

Compare more than one hot outlet if safe. If the cylinder appears to provide normal hot water elsewhere while one shower stays cold, a local outlet or mixing issue may be involved. If every outlet is affected, preserve that common pattern in the report. The next investigation should follow the symptom, not just the presence of a smart controller in the cupboard.

Heat-pump and boiler integration needs both sides of the request

A smart cylinder may request heat from equipment with its own controls and operating conditions. When the request appears but heating does not follow, the investigation should distinguish the cylinder’s request from the external heat source’s response. Record the visible status of both, using their separate model names and without entering installer menus or changing safety settings.

In a May 2025 UK heat-pump discussion, a homeowner with a Daikin system and Mixergy tank reported delayed response to boost during warm weather. The cause and final resolution were not established. A commenter’s temperature theory is not a manufacturer-confirmed diagnosis. The useful lesson is to record timing and the state of both devices, rather than assume the cylinder’s indicated demand proves the heat pump has started.

Tell the installer whether this is new behaviour, whether normal scheduled heating still works and whether there were recent commissioning or control changes. If different companies supplied the heat pump and cylinder, identify who will coordinate the investigation. Otherwise each may assess its own component without resolving the interface between them.

Do not switch the cylinder to electric mode just to bypass an unexplained fault unless the matching user instructions and responsible support team confirm that arrangement is appropriate. A documented temporary option may be useful, but it is not a substitute for establishing why the intended heat source failed to respond. Mixergy iHP guidance must stay specific to that product

Mixergy’s separate iHP X support page discusses limited hot water in relation to top-up mode and heating schedules, including a full-circulation option in its app guidance. That is product-specific information. It should not be copied across to every standard Mixergy cylinder, or treated as a universal explanation for a red status light.

Check the product name before using a search result. The fact that both products share an app and manufacturer does not make every operating mode equivalent. If the screen or controls described in an article do not exist on your system, stop and find the correct documentation rather than searching for a hidden setting that might have another purpose.

Describe the actual shortage. Is the first shower satisfactory but the second cold, is the water never hot, or is the app unavailable while the service works? Record the recent schedule and ordinary demand. These observations can help the support team decide whether the issue concerns an operating mode, demand planning or a fault needing investigation.

Do not infer a promised shower duration from a tank percentage alone. Household use, outlet behaviour and the particular heating arrangement matter. If performance has changed under the same routine, that is a more useful comparison than a stranger’s daily consumption claim. A good support response should explain the relevant operating behaviour for your model and identify what further evidence is needed if the result remains inadequate.

Avoid resets that conceal the problem or bypass protection

A restart is not a diagnosis. It can remove a visible symptom temporarily without identifying why it occurred, and some states explicitly require power to remain on. Capture the current message, indicator pattern and time before following model-specific support instructions. Do not repeatedly reset an electrical protective device or concealed thermal cut-out to keep an unreliable system operating.

Internal temperature sensing, processor and energy-measurement issues need the manufacturer or a suitably qualified engineer. A homeowner should not unplug internal sensors, change boards or test live terminals based on the status table. The table helps communicate the detected issue; it is not a component-level repair manual or permission to enter an enclosure.

One August 2026 public review reported a controller failure and difficulty obtaining timely help. The retrieved account did not establish a completed resolution. It is not a measure of typical reliability or support speed. It does highlight the practical value of obtaining a case reference, explaining that hot water is unavailable and asking what safe temporary arrangements are supported for the specific installation.

If support recommends an action, keep the instruction with the case record and report the result accurately. “The light changed after the requested step but water remains cold” is more informative than closing the case because the display looks normal. If a safety concern arises, stop ordinary troubleshooting and use the appropriate urgent assistance route.

Verify the service, not just the disappearance of a light

After a repair or support intervention, check the function that originally failed. If the complaint concerned an overnight schedule, a successful daytime boost does not by itself demonstrate that the next scheduled period will work. If the app was disconnected but heating continued, confirm that current information and normal remote controls are restored without claiming an unrelated plumbing repair occurred.

Keep a short record of the agreed change and the result under ordinary use. Note whether a controller was replaced, a network issue resolved, a schedule corrected or another appliance assessed. Those interventions answer different questions. If the symptom returns, the record helps support distinguish recurrence from a separate problem instead of starting again with a vague report that the tank is broken.
